Thermal power plant! What is thermal power plant?, Types of thermal power plant. Steam power plant.

Generally, when we hear about the name thermal power plant the image that comes in front of us is coal power plant but coal is only a type of fuel used to generate energy.

A thermal power plant is a plant in which heat is used to generate energy.

Generally, all non-renewable plants are thermal power plant as every plant generates energy with the help of steam.

The thermal power plant is classified into different types:-

1] Steam power plant

2] Nuclear Power plant

3] Gas turbine power plant.

The power plant is generally specified into two types:-

1] Central power plant

2] Captive power plant.

The central power plant provides developed electrical energy for general sales purpose. This energy is sold to various consumers who want to purchase energy in bulk amount.

In this type of plant complete steam is used to generate energy.

The captive power plant produces energy for personal use only. In this some amount of energy is used for other purposes also. This type of power plant is an industrial-based plant.

Generally, the only coal-based power plant is used in a wide amount and the reason behind it is an abundance of its availability and its cheap cost.

***Thermal power plant produces a wide amount of carbon emission which also cause extreme pollution. To control it many countries have signed a treaty and implemented a rule on carbon credits, also known as KYOTO PROTOCOL.

Shortly, in thermal power plant Fuel is burned in a furnace and then its heat used for the boiler. Which generates steam and that generated steam is strikes on steam turbine which rotates the turbine, the exhaust of the turbine is connected with the condenser which again condenses the steam into water and provides condensed water to the boiler.

The main parts of the thermal power plant are Boiler, Furnance, Super heater, steam turbine, Generator, Condenser.

Thermal power plant works on rankings cycle in which steam is generated at high pressure in boiler and temperature is expanded in prime mover {Steam turbine} is exhausted to the condenser to condense. and then it is again pumped back to the boiler. A shaft connected to a turbine transfer mechanical energy to a generator which then converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Since in actual power plant, we can observe lots of modification in the rankine cycle. To improve plant efficiency and fuel economy also.

The thermal power plant has low cost and high thermal efficiency.

If the thermal power plant is using coal as fuel, it should burn good quality coal with high ash content.

The thermal plant should also give attention to pollution control.

And these plants should also give attention to the ash handling process.

We are here to promote green energy. Using the green energy is good for nature as well as for any living organisms.

We support tree plantation.

Plant a tree every year and try to protect every plant.

Save trees save nature.
